The Madonie Park is a natural regional park planned in 1981 (from the Sicilian Regional Law n.98) and established November 9, 1989; it includes fifteen municipalities in the province of Palermo in Sicily (Caltavuturo, Castelbuono, Castellana Sicula, Cefalù, Collesano, Geraci siculo, Gratteri, Isnello, Soprana Petralia, Petralia Sottana, Polizzi Generosa, Pollina, San Mauro Castelverde, and Sclafani Bagni Scillato).

It Includes the Madonie mountain, located on the northern coast of Sicily, between the rivers and Imera Pollina.

The park hosts more than half of the different plant species in Sicily and in particular most of those present only in Sicily (such as Abies nebrodensis endangered in Vallone Madonna degli Angeli).

The fauna includes more than half of all the species of birds, all species of mammals and more than half of the invertebrate species in Sicily.
