Mirabilandia is an amusement park located Savio (Ravenna fraction) near the pinewoods Class, along the Adriatic highway. The park also gets its name from the area itself ( "Loc Mirabilandia) legally recognized as a part of the city of Ravenna.
The total surface area is 750,000 m², of which 300,000 occupied by mechanical-theme park, 100,000 by water park and the remaining areas are resevated for parkingplaces and expansionareas. It is the largest amusement park in Italy.
The park is generally open from April to October.
The property, arising in a flat area is immediately identifiable from miles away and this due to the height of its main attractions, and thus has become the symbol of the park itself.
The park Mirabilandia consists of two main areas: The Theme park (divided into seven areas) and The water park (open since 2003).
The theme park is full of greenery and, inside, there are mechanical attractions, aquatic themes and performances take place.
The other part is the water-park, here we find swimming pools, water slides and artificial beaches. To access the theme park one must pay an extra surcharge.
The entire structure is developed around three small lakes, one central and two secondary, an important nestingplace for several species of birds, including migratory species.
The site was originally a natural oasis, and so the project was challenged at the beginning of the nineties by various environmental organizations.
However, subsequently, the attention that has been shown to the animal and plant species present was to get the park the patronage of Ministry of Environment.
