San Sicario, part of a large ski area known as the Milky Way, La Via Lattea, is
a small town between beautiful forests and rolling hills in the provice of Torino in Piedmont.
Thanks also to the fact that San Sicario was chosen as a host city for the Olympics games, the ski resort has been almost
completely renovated and it now offers its guests for exampel Two new chairlifts,
automatic four-seat lifts (before these there were the ordinary basic ski lifts) and a new cable car with 12 baskets with a stopover halfway instead of the previous two old chair lifts.

The trails and slopes winding through the woods and are almost exclusively linked
to Monte Sestriere and Saux d'ULX while on the lower side, with the new
cable car that can be used for going down as well as for going up, they are interwoven with Cesana Torinese.

The quality has without doubt growth remarkably: One can certainly easily imagine
how long and uncomfortable it must have been to go with the old twoseated chairlift down with the packing, skis and boots in tow.
Also the artificial snow-system has benefited and been improved by the new investments.

One of the area's strengths is that the slopes are large and there is a lot of space, not too crowdy, which naturally leads to greater freedom and safety for all skiiers, from expert skiers to beginners.

Finally there is also a very technical course designed specifically for super-G
competitions in skiing (women) in the Winter Olympics.
It is called Fraiteve and runs along the slopes of Mount Fraiteve, passing by the town of Soleil Boeuf and ends at the hill where we also find San Sicario shopping center that opened in 2003.

The area known as the Milky Way, La Via Lattea, is an international ski area
that consists of five towns in the Piedmont, in addition to San Sicario there are also Sestriere, Sauze d'Oulx, Cesana, Claviere and the french Montgenèvre.

It has over 200 ski runs, all interlaced (ski terms), with totaling over 400 km of track, mostly covered with artificial snow.
It ranges from an altitude of 1350 meters in Cesana to a height of 2800 meters on
top of Mount Motta, offering magnificent views of the surrounding mountains
and allows the skier to really get to enjoy the vast beauty of the area.

The Milky Way is, in short, is synonymous with open spaces, expanses of sunlit snow, long trails, beautiful views which conflates the characteristic villages and cottage areas with modern and Occitan towns with all facilities, comforts and entertainment.
The range and diversity of the area is enough to satisfy even the most
demanding skiers, thanks to the long and challenging slopes, and also those who for the very first time are getting into the wonderful world of skiing.
