Porto San Giorgio is a comune in the Province of Fermo, in the Marche region of Italy. with approximately 16300 inhabitants and it is located on the splendid ever so lovely Adriatic coast.
Already famous at the times of Pliny the Elder as Navale Firmanorum and cited by Strabo and in the Tabula Peutingeriana as Castrum Firmanorum (Citadel of Fermo), it was bound to the development of the port of Fermo, probably situated to the estuary of the Ete river and connected to the city of Fermo by the Pompeiana road.
Known at the time of Pliny the Elder as a Naval Firmanorum, and mentioned by Strabo in
Table Peutingeriana as Castrum Firmanorum or Castellum Firmanorum, Port St.
George, Porto San Giorgio is linked to the development of the port of detention, so as to still be called in Middle Ages as the Latin Portus Signature, probably in Roman site at the mouth River Ete.
Connected by road to the town of Fermo Pompeiana, named in honor of General
Roman Pompey Strabo, the home of Fermo, who had owned the land-owning Piceno Fermo. He was the father of the console's rival Pompey and Julius Caesar

the villa in the neoclassical style, is surrounded by a park adorned with decorations and
bas-reliefs of trophies. It was built at the request of Jerome Bonaparte, who stayed
Porto San Giorgio between 1829 and 1832.
In the church of the cemetery is kept a painting of the Crucifixion (XVI century).
