INFIORATE IN SPELLO

(from Saturday the 24th of May to Sunday the 25th 2008)

Do you know the “infiorate” (floral decorations)?
We are really charmed by them, because this is the right period in order to admire some of them,
especially if you happen to be going to Umbria.

The “infiorate” (floral decorations) are floral compositions connected with religious and natural themes:
they require a very careful preparation.

Just think the making of floral paintings with liturgical figurations must be completed with very fresh
flowers and grasses during the course of a single night.

If you wish to admire one of the most famous “infiorate”, you could go to Spello (PG), where you’ll be
able to notice the Spello’s creativity at work in the medieval town’s streets. Flowers are leitmotiv of this
festival, that offers gastronomic tasting, picture exhibitions and entertainment.

But be careful: you’ll be able to enjoy infiorata’s landscape until midday, because, after that time, the
procession, leaving from the church of Santa Maria Maggiore, will go along the old steps again, on the
floral carpet and …alas the infiorata will be lost!
