Welcome to Bovalino, a town of 8,716 inhabitants in the province of Reggio Calabria overlooking the beautiful Ionian coast. This little town is one of the many landmarks for tourists who choose Calabria. Remarkable development of the free beach. Besides there is Bovalino Marina Superior, at a height of 180 meters.

Thanks to its beaches Bovalino has grown into one of the most equipped and populare resorts for the summer tourist on the Ionian coast. Nearby there are wonderful plantations of jasmine and citrus groves that scent the air.

Only 5 Km away we find Bovalino Superior (180 m). This is a fortified village and perched on a rock. The Castle is probably one of Norman military building of which we can only see a few remains, lika parts of the walls and towers. The parish of St. Mary of the Snow is medieval, but was completely rebuilt after the earthquake of 1783 and 1908. Inside, is a very large relief depicting the Madonna and Child of the sixteenth century. Just outside Bovalino Superior, you can find the remains of S. Maria del Soccorso. This church seems to be Norman, but restored in the second half of the sixteenth century.
