The Canavese area, just north-east of Turin, derives its name from Canava: this plant for the manufacture of ropes were in fact present time extensive cultivation in the area. Next in Ivrea, a town of  Torri Rossi "red towers" in Canavese are also numerous castles, some dating back to medieval times, and places of interest such as Castellamonte, known for its ancient pottery production, which still continues today. The town of Tavagnasco is of course in the province of Turin, a few kilometers from the border with Valle d'Aosta, the Aosta Valley and about 10km from the town of Ivrea. Its territory stretches for the most part on the right bank of the river Dora Baltea.

The historical origins date back to pre-Roman Tavagnasco, as demonstrated by four rock-cut tombs and other archaeological traces. Tavagnasco is a beautiful country town, a quiet little town, nestled in a corner of Canavese.

Here the Association Spazio Futuro, active since June 1983, which, with the support of invention and of its members, has set itself the objective of contributing to cultural development and tourism in the area, placing particular attention in the dissemination of music.
The non-profit association,  legally recognized , since 1990, organizes the famous and beloved Tavagnasco Rock music festival that gives young bands from all over Italy the opportunity to present themselfs to a wider audience. The choice of participants is based on a national competition. The program is completed each night by guest artists are already established on the Italian and international scene.

The Tavagnasco Rock Festival strongest points apart from the music is the organization, whose members - involved in different tasks - all participants are volunteers, music lovers, who selflessly give each its own jurisdiction, so that the event is realized. In the days of the festival, among the volunteers and musicians a very special feeling and atmosphere is born, which is based on common love of music and the wish to collaborate and make friends: this is the tipical atmosphere of Tavagnasco Rock, remembered by all participants even after a long time and inevitably perceived by the public.
