Cupra Marittima belongs to the province of Ascoli Piceno and is 43 kilometers far from Ascoli Piceno, that is the Chief Town of the homonymous province.

Cupra Marittima has a surface of 17,2 square kilometers thus showing a population density of 291,69 inhabitants per square kilometer. It rises 4 metres above the sea level. It is a 'friendly town of about 5000 inhabitants, the tourist center of the Marche coast. It is not only known for the famous "wax Cupra" dr. Ciccarelli or for the collection of shells more rich and beautiful in the world (Malacology exhibition), but it is of great importance also from the point of view of architectural history and cultural heritage. It has, in fact,  an archaeological Roman and medieval area of great importance. Worth visiting: the remains of Roman civilization, the castle of Marano (XII), the ruins of St. Andrew (eleventh century), the Civita di S. Cupra Marittima could very well be described as a small, welcoming country town lying within the "comprensorio" district of the Riviera delle Palme (Riviera of the Palm-trees). Renowned as a tourist centre every year it attracts many tourists owing to the charms of its beaches and its sea, as well as much more besides. Cupra Marittima is also important from the standpoint of historical architecture and culture.
