Here in the region Marche in Italy, located just about 70 km southeast of Ancona and about 20 km northeast of Ascoli Piceno, 12 km from the lovely adriatic coast we find the delightful tow of Ripatransone
It is a town in the Province of Ascoli Piceno, that is the southernmost province in Marches, it is bordered to the north by the newly established province of Fermo (which includes 40 communes previously included in the province of Ascoli Piceno), by the Adriatic sea to the east, the Abruzzi and the Latium regions to the south, the Umbria region to the south-west and, for a small area, the province of Macerata to the north-west.
The hill of Ripatransone, that actually means "Rupes of Transone", is a local feudatary who founded the castle here, was inhabited since prehistorical times, and was settled first by the Umbri and then the Piceni. After the Roman conquest it lost of importance, regaining it in the Middle Ages when several castles were built here, being unified into a single town in 1096. In 1205 it was a free commune, living a particular rivality with Fermo and against Francesco Sforza. In 1571 it was given the status of City and the diocesan see by pope Pius V. After the Renaissance it was part of the Papal States, becoming part of unified Italy in 1860.
After Ascoli Piceno, Ripatransone is one of the largest historic centers of the province, and its monumental aspect derives from the importance of the city in the past. The system of the country is medieval, and there are many remains of ancient fortifications. Corso Vittorio Emanuele cut longitudinally the town for about a kilometer, flanked by tall palaces of various periods.

The left side faces the bishop's palace, created by the conversion of a former Augustinian convent adjacent to the church of St. Augustine.
