Mount Terminillo is a mountain, highest peak is 2217.13 m (it used to be 2216m above sea level) belonging to the group of Appennino Abruzzese mountains, located 20 km from Rieti and 100 km from Rome .
The Terminillo is a typical Apennine mountains to the morphology (but never too harsh, however articulated) and as a flora and fauna present. On each side the Terminillo is marked by wide and deep valleys that determine the boundaries between land and the other small mountain ranges that surround children. Between these valleys stand out as the natural interest that leads to Vallonina Leonessa, and the valleys and Cape Ravara Cd instead descending towards the river Velino and the ancient consular Salaria. On the opposite side we have the valleys Valli dell'Inferno e degli Angeli (of hell and the angels valley ) that descend towards the plain of Rieti, and the Cantalice mountains.

Tourism in Terminillo
Terminillo is a ski resort, with 8 skilifts located between 1500 and 2108 meters of altitude, 40 km of skitrails and 20 km of tracks dedicated to Nordic skiing. Rieti is connected with the Terminillo highway number 4.
Despite the fact that Terminillo offers enormous potential for tourism and skiing, the last one is still the area of greater focus efforts and attention of operators and local administrations. The environmental wonders of Terminillo, the wealth of wildlife and biodiversity, traditions and local legends and the beauty of historical and cultural heritage of the past, still present on the sites are often neglected by the tourism industry, focusing instead almost only towards development through the winter sports related to skiing.
However, Terminillo is seing a certain increasing interest in sports such as trekking (sky race, race in the mountains which is along the paths of CAI) and hiking in summer and winter, related to religious issues and spiritual events such as the long walk "Way of St Francis of Assisi." ("Cammino di Francesco d'Assisi").
However, mountaineering and climbing are activities carried out (albeit modestly) in Terminillo for almost forty years. Indeed, especially the fortifications of the North East walls offer significant opportunities for both summer and winter alpine climbing. And we mustn´t forget that the little group of mountains immediately adjacent Valloni Mountains (Elephant Mountain, highest peak 2015 m.) has winter mountaineering routes of great beauty and complexity: icefalls, channels and much more.
Many excursions are possible also around Leonessa , and all around the complex of Monte Terminillo, the CAI of Rieti has reclassified and placed about 42 paths . The guides' about the Terminillo mountains of Rieti "volumes 1 and 2", By Emanuele Lucchetti and Federica Fais, published by Technopress, also found in the local newspapaer-stands, of Leonessa and Pian de'Valli gives you the best routes and the proposed excursion to do in the Rieti Mountains feet in addition to beautiful pictures of places and other valuable information for those who want to visit this magnificent mountain.
