Fiabilandia is the oldest theme park in Italy, it is open since 1965.
Roughly circular in shape, the park Fiabilandia lies around a lake, Lake Bernard, a former quarry. The lake is home to numerous species of birds both migratory and not. Fiabilandia has 3 main thematic areas: medieval, Eastern and Western, but the only fully developed area is the western one.
The establishment, inaugurated in 1965, was initially concentrated in the area that is currently the Far West area, the park was not wery well defined but contained numerous forms of entertainment especially for children (small boats, the Go-Kart, etc...)
Park Fiabilandia grew and reached its peak in the eighties. The direction, which at the time was Oriano Bizzocchi (director of the park from 1974 to 1983) that together administrator Bruno Ravaioli took inspiration and ideas from the attractions of the American Disney Parks, adjusting them to the amount of users and visitors of the park in Rimini (the most obvious example is the gold mine of the West, which appears to be a scaled down version of Big Thunder Mountain Disney).
The park is divided mainly into thematic areas plus some "mixed" areas.
-
Medieval: Entrance, Castel of the wizard Merlin/ Castello di Mago Merlino, offices, shops at the entrance and the refreshmentcorner Frulleria of the Magician.
-
Eastern: includes the Labyrinth of Fu-Ming, Lake of Dreams, the self-service restaurant The Pagoda and the area between these attractions is characterized by orange-brown colours and large Chinese lamps.
Bay of Peter Pan / Pirates: This is a secluded, but is considered a small thematic area, the bay includes the cave of Skull and the pirate ship.
There are also two "mixed areas" one with the classics like the giant slides, an attraktion for children's with wagons shaped like little carpets and a car-track (in which however the kids must be accompanied by an adult). In the other "mixed zone" is located the show-area, the Ricciovisione, the planetarium, the Valley of the Gnomes, the FrogSea , The marygoround with Horses, the PlayGround Cucciolone (Puppy) the Exotario, the Baby-park Park and the Captain Nemos Adventures .
Far West:
the area most developed thematized area of the park, including an authentic Old West Saloon with lots of pictures depicting the "really big" Outlaws of the West and a long main street, an area that for performances, there is one of two stations where the train stops (the other stop is the entrance) and a real fort animated by sculptures and a soundtrack. Just outside the fort is a blacksmith's shop, where you see the old blacksmith beats a horseshoe in the middle with the typical tools of the trade. In the Far West is, indeed, the western gold mine , the rollercoaster is the mainattraction of the park.
